Why the name “The Butterfly Foundation”?
The world renowned German scientist, Paul Ehrlich, said: “The fluttering of a butterfly's wings can effect climate changes on the other side of the planet”. This is known as “The Butterfly Effect”. Just like fluttering of a butterfly’s wings can cause climate changes, so can you make a significant difference in someone’s life. The butterfly is the ultimate example of metamorphosis, a symbol of change and hope. This inspires us to unlock potential and infinite possibilities, it inspires us to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.Philosophy
Many people feel the need to make the world a better place, to get involved and give back to the community. The problem is that most of us don’t know how and where to get involved and in the case of financial contributions one often can’t see how the funds get allocated.
Through The Butterfly Foundation we empower people to make a difference and create channels through which our members can uplift those who are less fortunate. By utilising our members’ and partners’ contributions, whether it’s their time, skill or contributions of a financial nature we endeavour to make the world a better place, albeit one small step or project at a time.
Our actions have a lasting impact and the outcome is tangible for all our members and partners to see.
Core values
- We believe that God is walking a path with all of us, irrespective of race, gender or religion. This is why we welcome people from all walks of life to The Butterfly Foundation and invite them to make a make a difference with us.
- We endeavour to leave a lasting impact wherever we get involved. Instead of giving someone a fish to eat, we would rather teach them how to fish.
- We think creatively about how we can make a difference. The possibilities are endless, we only have to apply our minds and work with our hearts.
- We manage our projects by applying healthy business principles. Despite being a non-profit organisation, we have a fiduciary duty to act responsibly and allocate our members’ and partners’ contributions with care.
